ITM history

In 1969 the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) established the Committee on Challenges of Modern Society (CCMS). From the outset, the subject of air pollution was one of the priority problems of concern to the CCMS. They initially organized a number of pilot studies, which evolved into a series of regularly-offered conferences, named NATO/CCMS International Technical Meeting (ITM) on Air Pollution Modelling and its Application. The organization and support of these meetings has become one of the main activities of the newly constituted NATO Committee on Science for Peace and Security (SPS). The present 31st ITM continues the series, and is a confirmation of the interest and high level of confidence of the scientific community and various supporting agencies in the ITM series of conferences.
